In accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standards of Exposure to Chemicals Hazardous to Health) Regulations 2000, employers are required to ensure that employee exposure to chemicals is monitored using an approved method of monitoring and analysis. This assessment is known as chemical exposure monitoring.
A hygiene technician who has been approved by DOSH Malaysia shall conduct such chemical exposure monitoring. The monitoring of employee exposure indicated in subregulation (1) must be repeated at intervals of no more than six months if an employee is exposed or likely to be exposed to substances listed in Schedule II that are harmful to health.
